Born in Barcelona, Ona Ballester Isart studied Image at E.M.A.V, the Master of Cinematography at E.S.C.A.C and the Certificate of Cinematography at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles, California, where she lived from 2015 to 2018.
She began shooting her first projects as a cinematographer in 2013 and since then she has shot several short films, music videos, fashion films, documentaries, and commercials in Spain and the US. In October 2017, she shot her first feature film, One Star Rider, which premiered at North Hollywood’s CineFest in Los Angeles. Her latest feature films are And they will all burn (Nostalgia Films) and The Invisible Friend (Apocalypse Productions and Laca Productions). Her works have been selected in different national and international film festivals. The short film The Bathtub (Astrolabi Films) stands out, with which she won the award for best cinematography at the 4th Seman International Short Film Festival in Sonseca and (was) shortlisted for the Goya Awards 2022. She is currently shooting fiction, advertising, documentaries and video clips .
Ona understands cinematography as the combination of light, movement and emotion. The good combination of these three elements creates unforgettable moments and sensations. That’s why Ona dedicates herself to cinematography, it is her way of expression, the way to reaching people, to create sensations, to create change.
She currently lives in Barcelona and works wherever she is needed.
